2 hours per week, one morning / afternoon / evening per week
Make a difference to the care older patients receive while in hospital
Learn new skills, expand your circle of contacts and acquaintances, develop communication and caring skills, increase your understanding of community participation and involvement.
Volunteers provide practical assistance to patients on the Aged Care wards and help make the hospital experience a better one for patients and their family/friends. Work with patients to understand the `here and now`, decrease boredom by providing good conversation and mental stimulation, assist with eating, drinking and walking, give relaxing massages, watch for `risky behaviour` and help prevent falls.
People from all backgraounds are encouraged to apply.
No experience needed.
Full training of 12 hours and ongoing supervision provided.
Volunteers required to consent to a police check and be over 18 years of age.
A minimum commitment of six months is preferred.
