Volunteer Assistant - Group activities.

Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre

Sports, Arts, Outings
Assist fun dynamic group activities for people with disabilities.

Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre is seeking volunteers to assist with its Saturday group activities programme, for people with disabilities.

The Weekend Respite and Recreation Program provides exciting outings and activities for people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Outings include going to museums, Luna Park, the Zoo, community festivals, restaurants, bowling, and the movies, as well as art workshops, sports activities and getting ready for the Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre disco.

Volunteers provide social support and assistance to group participants, under the direction of the team leader. Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre provides support, training, and lunch to volunteers.

If you would be happy to volunteer one Saturday a month we would love to hear from you. Please note, as per Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre policy, all volunteers are required to undergo a criminal records check, and sign a declaration relating to Working with Children.

Why Cumbo OTs?

The cruise, entitled “We’ll Float Your Boat” attracted some 261 students in October 2006, and proved to be a fantastic night cruising the harbour with good music, drinks, pizza and of course oozed "Cumbo" spirit! All ‘boat-floaters’ eagerly dressed to the theme of “I can’t believe you’re wearing THAT!” ... it was soon recognised that this was a valuble exercise. So, Why stop there! What we noticed was that we did not have a place that all our OT colleagues could stay up to date and so CumboOTs.com was born. With the help of the many other enthusiastic CumboOT's this site continues to grow and our CumboOT spirit is well and truely taking the Cumberland campus by storm.

Who can use CumboOT's.com?

Anyone! especially those of you who are enrolled or have been enrolled as an OT at Cumbo!!

CumboOTs.com is accessible to all. Whether you are still studying or have graduated. Regualar events and the Cumbo Spirit always just a click away!

CumboOTs.com aims to promote cohesion, communication, interaction and overall spirit amongst our OT student body, which we hope will continue beyond University and into our future careers as OT professionals.

Volunteering can be a great way to build an experience portfolio, practice skills, and to do something a little different. Volunteering also provides professional networks and job opportunities.

We know it is often difficult to find a volunteer service that suits your learning and working style, so this weblog will provide a range of volunteer opportunities from services who are actively seeking volunteers. We will update this site regulary so check often or better still -- SUBSCRIBE!.
