Purpose of Program
Visits are important for both the child and the inmate. For children in particular visits can promote self-esteem, be emotionally nurturing, and help reduce anxiety and fear. This anxiety and fear has often arisen after witnessing the horror of the arrest itself and thus immediate visits are extremely helpful for reassuring the children and helping to enable positive parent/child relationships. In addition, visits assist in maintaining ongoing positive relationships between family members.
This service is for children who otherwise would not be able to have face to face contact with their parent. This program enables regular contact visits between children and their imprisoned parent.
