Good at looking after crowd barricades?
Good at keeping crowds moving?
Do you like doing jobs - for the cause with little reward
Finale Official
The 2008 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras relies very heavily on volunteers on Parade night.
One area that we always require additional people is our Finale area. The volunteers for this area need to be unique people - willing to help us secure an area of which you don`t get to view the Parade in all its glory. Instead its a vital role of keeping the general public out and our Float/Parade participants moving along.
Finale is where the floats disembark and everyone says goodbye.
We need people who can help guide vehicles (floats), and people so that everyone gets through the finish line safely, and still in good spirits.
Are you this person?
Will you volunteer for us?
If so - we`ll give you a half-price ticket to the After Party held at Fox Studios, and all the praise that we can muster. There`ll also be a Thank You Function that you`ll receive an invitation for. If you`re keen to help us - please email: volunteers@mardigras.org.au with FINALE OFFICIAL in your subject line.
For additional information, please contact Michael Donnelly on:

Kids Supervised Transport Service
All volunteers are offered induction training and on the job training
Non- judgemental attitude, have an interest in helping children,
A confidant driver and are mature and responsible?
Purpose of Program
Visits are important for both the child and the inmate. For children in particular visits can promote self-esteem, be emotionally nurturing, and help reduce anxiety and fear. In addition, visits assist in maintaining ongoing positive relationships between family members.
This service is for children who otherwise would not be able to have face to face contact with their parent. This program enables regular contact visits between children and their imprisoned parent.
Description of Volunteers Position
The volunteer collects and returns children from their carer`s home, drives them to gaol and supervises the visit with the parent. Escorts usually have between 1 - 3 children. At the end of the visit the volunteer is required to complete a questionnaire /report on the visit itself. This is a responsible position and the volunteer is an important link providing feedback.
